Principal's welcome

Welcome to our website, a window into life at our school.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to New Lambton Public School.

Founded in 1880, these grounds and buildings represent a long history of providing quality education in a caring environment. We know that the generations of students who have walked these hallways have shaped the past and present of the community. Therefore we are particularly conscious that it will be our current students who shape the future.

The future is hard to predict. However, we know that in the unprecedented times we live in, the ability to be flexible, the skills to adapt to rapid evolution in technology and collaborate to solve complex problems have never been more crucial.

Our school leaders and classroom teachers understand that we play a vital role in ensuring students not only have a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy, but also opportunities to develop their creativity, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, sense of resilience and strategies for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

This is obviously an enormous task, but the depth of knowledge, skills and enthusiasm of our staff is up to the challenge. Our classroom teachers are supported by a huge team, including our teacher librarian, learning and support teacher, English as an additional language/dialect teacher, school counsellor, student learning and support officers as well as a school executive team consisting of a principal, deputy principal and 4 assistant principals.

All of us are in turn supported by a strong community of parents, carers and ex-students who share our goals and work in partnership to achieve them.

We believe that our record of high academic achievement is built upon positive student wellbeing. As such, our high expectations for student growth are balanced with play and regular physical activity. This includes off-site sports like swimming, tennis, gymnastics and Ninja Parc (Y2-6). Our students’ school life is also enriched by the provision of a number of extra-curricular activities, such as music tuition, debating, band, dance, drama, choir, chess, film and competitive sporting teams.

Importantly, from Kindergarten onwards, students have the opportunity to contribute their voice to school life. Our Student Representative council, Tell Them From Me surveys (Years 4-6) and opportunities to suggest improvements are all ways that our students can feel empowered to make a positive difference to their own environment and the broader community.

You’ll find this site full of interesting and useful information for new and experienced families alike.
