Parents, carers and the community

As a parent or carer, you are an important part of our school community. We offer a range of services to support you and your family.

Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C)

Our Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is made up of parents and carers, teachers and community members. The P&C meets regularly to contribute to decision-making, developing policies and management plans as well as fundraising.

The Parents and Citizens Association meets in the staffroom on the third Monday of each month. New members are always welcome.

From our P&C President

A big welcome to our new families! The New Lambton P&C has another busy and eventful year planned to support our school and the children. Have a great fundraising idea? Want to be involved in some of our events or meet other parents? Come join us!

What is the P&C?

Our Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is made up of parents and carers, teachers and community members. The P&C meets regularly to contribute to decision-making, developing policies and management plans as well as fundraising.

What we do

We run:
Book Club, which contributes around $2000 in Scholastic rewards to the school annually. This is used to fund end of year book prizes for Library award recipients, provide books to babies born at the John Hunter Hospital during Book Week annually, provide books to our incoming kindergarten students annually and update the books available for borrowing in the library.

The Uniform Shop, which contributes around $20,000 annually to the P&C. The Uniform Shop is onsite, near the canteen, and run by an incredibly dedicated group of volunteers. Ordering is available online via the QKR! app.

We fundraise!  Over the last few years we have used these funds to directly benefit the students by:

·       Installing artificial grass and the Buddy Bench

·       Purchasing a marquee for use at sporting/outdoor events

·       Purchasing sheet music for the school band

·       Providing Cyber Lady laptops and charging stations

·       Running online Cyber Lady education sessions to students and the school community

·       Installing our new cricket nets

·       Purchasing a significant amount of furniture to update the library

·       Supporting the installation of Smart Boards and air conditioners to all classrooms

·       Assisted in the development and finishing touches to the Multi Purpose Centre

·       Helped refurbish the Art Room

We host (Covid dependant):

Community events, including our annual Easter raffle, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls, and celebration of our wonderful staff on International Teacher’s Day.

How we operate

Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month in the Staff Room (not during school holidays). It costs $1 annually to join the P&C to be able to vote, purchased through QKR! Meeting agendas and minutes are published through Sentral.

In Semester 2 a P&C levy is part of the school fees, which covers insurances and for 2021 Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts.

Come along to a meeting and meet other parents, find out what's going on within the school and provide input into your child's future at New Lambton PS. Your support would be greatly appreciated. You don’t need to attend every meeting, take on a committee position (but we would love you to) or participate in every event, many hands make light work!
